5NPY is a radio network broadcasting from the Pitjantjatjara, Ngaanyatjarra and Yankunytjatjara Lands in South Australia. Ernabella, Indulkana, Wingellina, Umuwa, Amata and Fregon broadcast daily with local stories, music and news from across the APY lands.

12th Remote Indigenous Media Festival – Thursday Island
Three radio broadcasters, Michael Tubby Lang from Umuwa, Kristen Numma Khan from Ernabella, Jamie-Lee Stewart from Mimili, General Manager Chris Ashby and Training Officer Barbara Jackson travelled to Thursday Island for the 12th Remote Indigenous Media Festival,11th – 16th October 2010.All staff were able to gain information from other RIMO’s on their RIBS operations and broadcasts, IRCA on new technologies, ICTV on uploading content.
Awards won by our broadcasters were: National RIBS Broadcaster of the Year Michael Tubby Lang; Best Emerging Radio Talent (PY Media) Catherine Wintinna; RIBS Operator of the year (PY Media) Michael Tubby Lang;
Tubby and Jamie-Lee did an interview on New Technologies with Georgina Nau and Jamie-Lee and Kristen did a Live to air broadcast on TSIMA with their broadcaster Magic Mic.
ABC Message Stick was there to cover the event and did an interview with Tubby on his years of broadcasting with PY Media. Keep an eye out for that upcoming program on ABCTV.
Kristen and Tubby filmed the colourful Torres Strait Islanders events over the 5 days.
Torres Strait Islands Media Associations (TSIMA) celebrated 25 years broadcasting to the Torres Straits. At the celebrations in Anzac Park many dignitaries spoke including Mr Graham Steel who helped TISMA all those years ago. Mr Aven Noah was also celebrated for his 25 years of service to the organisation.
Seaman Dan entertained all the delegates in his beautiful Island style along with local band Northern Exposure.
Holy Cow coming from the desert we all felt the humidity and Tubby landed himself a rest in the TI hospital after filming the march down Douglas Street for the celebration of TSIMA’s 25th year on air.
